My question is can you bypass the time completely without unplugging when you want to vacuum the pool?
Take the red and green pins out and then ensure the timer is set to on. Meaning you may have to turn the black knob to on. The dial will rotate and without pins inserted, will not turn on/off again.
Can someone tell me how do you use the manual ON/OFF button??? What is it for and how do I know my timer is on? I set it but it’s not moving

What is that recessed screw on the front under the dial mechanism for? I have one like this that is new, never used, BUT doesn't seem to keep up with the current time. Anyone know if that recessed screw is for speed adjustment OR NOT???
We bought a house with a ground pool. Does this have anything to do with the pool lights?. Please someone help me with this question. The previews owners also have light in the private gate on the back. But they dont work. I just need to no if this box controls the light to the pool. Cus my dog messed up the wires. Common sense! Set time, plug the timer into an outlet, go back an hour later or whatever time you choose and see if it corresponds correctly with the passage of time.

What if i don't lift the lid ?
How do you open it to screw it onto a surface from inside? There is a screw under the timer, but after removing it, the plastic does not come completely off.
Late but if anybody else is confused. You don't screw it on to a surface. YOU MOUNT THE SCREW FIRST (pan or oval head screws)---into wood or whatever, then you attach the timer last with the keyhole mount on the back. Head of screw goes through the round part then slide the timer down so shank of screw is in the slot!! Instructions say "To avoid shock hazard, timer must be installed VERTICALLY and AT LEAST 3 ft. ABOVE ground level. Wattage of devices controlled should not exceed capacity of timer. When used with extension cord devices, do not exceed their rating of 10 Amps." This is for Model HB31R.
